Bio and Promo – G. Mark LaFrancis

Short Bio

G. Mark LaFrancis is a 23-year veteran of the United States Air Force. His father was a World War II veteran and his grandfather was a World War I veteran. Mark has devoted his life to helping veterans and their loved ones through a variety of activities and programs. His books, whether for adults or children, reveal his desire and mission for truth, honor, and sacrifice. Mark has 11 oral histories to his credit as a professional oral historian, and as director and executive producer of New Dawn Video Productions, he is dedicated to making films with a purpose.

Likeable characters, length, writing style, and situations make his stories especially suited for students who are reluctant to tackle lengthy novels but who are eager for a good “read.”

Mark is wonderfully unique. His stories explode from the heart and soul of his characters. And his stories avoid the profane, grotesque scenes and characters that have pervaded children’s literature. Mark’s work can be characterized by the slogan: “Uplifting themes, positive outcomes.” Each book contains “Words to the Wise” lists of vocabulary-builder words.

A gripping true story about the illegal incarceration and punishment of more than 150 young mostly African American Civil Rights advocates in Mississippi in 1965 at the infamous Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, Mississippi

Adams County Christian School in Natchez, MS, produced this video to honor soldiers and veterans. The Introduction to Film and Photography Class, a new program at ACCS, produced the video.
